Joey is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law. There, he served as a staff editor for the Kentucky Law Journal and received several awards, including Most Outstanding Third-Year Staff Editor. He also earned CALI Awards for Academic Excellence in Evidence, Trust & Estates, and Urban Legal History writing seminar. And he was awarded best appellate brief for Harlan Writing Club. Before law school, Joey graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of South Carolina, where he was a McNair Scholar.
Prior to joining Sheffer law, Joey worked for another defense litigation firm in Louisville. He also spent several years as a judicial law clerk for Justices Mary Noble and Samuel Wright of the Supreme Court of Kentucky.
He and his wife, Paige, reside in Louisville. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his two dogs.
